  • Hattie Boyd Gage, 65, of Marvell, passed away at her home March 13, 2014 surrounded by her loving family.
    Hattie Jean Gage was born July 28, 1948 to Leon and Leanna Boyd in Marvell. Both parents, along with one child, Carolyn, four brothers, Theodis, Austin, Predell and Nathaniel Boyd, three sisters, Ophelia Hamilton, Bernice Starnes and Vera Mae Jackson preceded her in death.
    Her early educational years were completed in the Marvell School District.
     She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age at Pleasant Grove M.B. Church. She loved God and was a devout Christian and taught her children to follow the life of Christ. She was active in her church where she served as an usher, choir member, hospitality hostess, a mother of the church, plus in any services that needed her help.
    She was employed at Cedar Lodge Nursing Home for many years. Hattie married Johnnie Lee Gage at age 15. Together they raised eight children. She was a loving and supportive wife and mother.
     Mother Gage leaves to cherish her memory, five sons, Michael (Vicki) of Bakersfield, Calif.; Johnny (Phyllis) of Little Rock, Timothy (Linda) of Marvell, Gary (Tammy) of Nashville, Tenn.; and Jamarcus (Kiara) of Jonesboro; two grandsons reared in the home, Dearius Crockett and Courtney Gage of Marvell; a sister, Essie (Elihue) Barefield of Marvell; a brother, Leon Boyd, Jr. (Ethel B.) of Chicago, Ill.; 26 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a special friend, Joyce Scott of Marvell; and many other relatives friends.
     Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 21 at Pleasant Grove M.B. Church. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 22 at New Haven M.B. Church. Rev. Kenioun Williams will be the eulogist. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Kincaid Funeral Services.
