  • Sam George was born to the late Jessie George and Will George on Oct. 11, 1916 in Lexa. Sam was married to the late Ms. Ruthie Mae George and to this blessed union was born a daughter, and four sons. Sam worked as a landscaper for over 65 years. If there were any trees, brushes or hedges that needed to be addressed Sam George was the man. Everyone will remember his soft spoken voice and cheerier and cunning smile. Of course, everyone will remember, yes that Sam George had jokes. He leaves to cherish his loving memory, a daughter, Barbara Jean George of Grand Rapids Mich.; three sons, Raymond George of Little Rock, Rev. Leroy George of Chicago, Ill., and Adolph George of Sand City, Calif.; daughters-in-law, Dianna George of Sand City and Alma Jean Johnson of Lawton, Okla.; grandchildren, Patricia George of Memphis, Tenn., Shirley Tatum of Conway, Samantha Jackson of Memphis, Shaun George of Little Rock, Kim George of Little Rock, Jerome George of Little Rock, Adrian George of El Paso, Texas, Kevin George of San Antonio, Texas, Bobby George of Grand Rapids, Angela George of Grand Rapids, Don George of Grand Rapids, Bobby George of Grand Rapids, Carleatha George of Grand Rapids, Sondra Mitchell of Lawton, Cassandra George of Grand Rapids, Leroy George Jr. of, Grand Rapids, Ruthie Mae George of Marianna, Rufus Ray George of Marianna and Scotchie Lee George of Marianna; Great-grandchildren, Markeith George of Conway, Gavin George of Jonesboro, Samuel George of Conway, Ava George of San Antonio, Sarah George of Little Rock, Alex George of Grand Rapids, Rozlynn George of Grand Rapids, Tanasha George of Grand Rapids, Jessica George of Grand Rapids, Lakisha George of Grand, Rapids, Latiskia George of Grand Rapids, Killia George of Grand Rapids, Jaeda George of Carrizo Springs, Texas; sisters-in-law, Jimmie Stene Dotson of Little Rock, Willie Ann Jackson of Marvell, Mary Walker of St. Louis, Mo., Martha King of St. Louis, Ernestine Maxie of, Chicago Heights, Ill. and brother-in-law, Stanley Prowell of Fayetteville; and a host of great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Funeral services for Sam George will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014 at the Second Baptist Church at Lexa with Rev. Calvin Frierson officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21 in the Robert Lee Brown Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Pilgrim Cemetery at Marianna.
