  • Arkansas could have its 13th bout of ice or snow by the end of the weekend after unusual weather patterns stay entrenched. The National Weather Service said Monday that Arkansas typically sees two or three bouts of winter weather in a typical season. Through Sunday's snowstorm in northern Arkansas, the state has already had 10 since Thanksgiving. John Robinson, the warning coordination meteorologist at the National Weather Service in North Little Rock, used as his criteria the state highway department deploying its color-coded map of slippery road conditions. Arkansas had five winter storms in December, four last month and one before Thanksgiving. Storms are already predicted for Tuesday and this weekend, and there may be winter weather on Thursday. Many school districts have used up "snow days" for the year.
