Another local favorite musical act will be performing at the Feb. 15 Live on the Levee Concert at the Malco Theater.

Another local favorite musical act will be performing at the Feb. 15 Live on the Levee Concert at the Malco Theater. The Reba Russell Band will kick off the music beginning at 7 p.m. She will be followed by a performance by Paul Thorn. The Memphis-based Reba Russell Band is a modern 5-piece electric blues band that features their original songs. The band has traveled the world for over 20 years playing most notably blues festivals in North America and Europe and has frequented the King Biscuit Blues Festival and has performed in Helena on numerous other occasions. The band consists of Reba Russell, who handles all of the lead vocals. She is backed by seasoned musicians that include Robert “Nighthawk” Tooms on keyboards and harp; Wayne Russell on bass; Doug McMinn, drums and percussion; and Josh Roberts, guitar. According to her Internet bio, many consider Russell a “blues diva” and she has been referred to as “a Memphis treasure.” Her rockin' band has developed a loyal following in the Bluff City primarily as the result of her show-stopping nightclub gigs on Beale Street. She has established a loyal base around the world as a result of her frequent appearances at blues festivals and European tours. A part of the Memphis music scene for over 25 years, Russell and her band have released eight independent CDs. She works regularly in Memphis recording studios as a vocalist and has been recognized by the National Recording Academy for her outstanding performances. A Party After the Event will follow the concert at The Manchester on Biscuit Row at 320 Phillips St. Security will be provided. Food and drinks will be available. Tickets are currently available at the new King Biscuit Blues Office at 319 Phillips St. Tickets bought via PayPal will be available at the Will Call Window at the Malco theater the night of the show starting at 5 p.m. The KBBF store will be open during the Party After the Event and T-shirts will be available.
