On Tuesday, Dec. 18 students of the Marvell-Elaine Elementary School attended a production of the Velveteen Rabbit at the Grand Prairie Event Center in Stuttgart. The play is an adaptation of the children's novel The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams. The story revolves around a young boy and a toy rabbit made of velveteen. Circumstances lead to the young boy regarding the toy rabbit as his most prized possession, which results in the toy becoming a “real” rabbit. The entire student body of Marvell-Elaine Elementary attended the play. Students enjoyed the production. Many classes prepared for the activity by reading the Velveteen Rabbit in class. Other classes will follow up with activities centered on the book and the play.
