  • A free training workshop for parents and families of children who have developmental disabilities from The Arc of Arkansas will be Wednesday, Dec. 4, at UAMS East, 1393 Highway 242 South. The workshop is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will address the topic of working effectively with children who have challenging behaviors. Kelly Davis and Melanie Wilson, behavior intervention specialists with the Great Rivers Education Coop will teach the basics of providing positive behavioral supports and working effectively with your child's school. The workshop is free and open to the public. Babysitting is provided and lunch is included. Please register with calwoodridge@gmail.com or 870-228-2080. The Arc is a grass-roots advocacy organization founded in 1954 to serve and support people of all ages who have intellectual and other developmental disabilities. The Arc of Arkansas was founded in 1957. This workshop is provided with the support of a grant from Arkansas Developmental Disabilities Council.
