Phyllis Schaffhauser, RN, has been named supervisor for the East Arkansas Area Agency on Aging home care program in Phillips County. She comes to the position with a degree in nursing and experience with the Arkansas Department of Health, where she has been employed for the past 23 years.
She will be joining LiTabrian Moore, RN, as a home care supervisor and will oversee services for elderly persons who need assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, motion exercises, transferring, housework and shopping. Aides in the home who provide these services also help with medication. The Agency is certified by the state of Arkansas to provide services to persons who are able to live in their homes with support needed for independence.
“The responsibility to care for persons who have health conditions that require help is greater than meets the eye,” said Kathy Frames, RN, EAAAA manager for the program. “Caring for the health requirements of the patient, such as medication checks and monitoring chronic illnesses is just the tip of the iceberg. Activities of daily living become a far greater challenge when patients try to live at home with health problems that may limit stamina, balance, and even cognitive ability.”
The Agency's office is located at 617 Walnut, Room 220, Helena. For more information on home care or other services call 870-338-7136 or visit www. e4aonline.com.
