Helena merchants plan to get an early jump on the holiday shopping season when they open their doors from 1 to 5 p.m. for a special “Open House” on Sunday, Nov. 24, five full days ahead of “Black Friday.” Main Street Helena is organizing and sponsoring the annual holiday event.
During the shopping spree, merchants will show off their festive decorations while inviting the whole community inside for special holiday shopping, sales and refreshments.
“Besides favorite stores like Handworks, Delta Gypsy, Hart's Shoes, Cotton & Kudzu and Gracious Living, this year's Open House is welcoming some very special first-time participants,” said Dawna Parker, Main Street Helena Board member.
In addition the shopping, visitors will get the opportunity to enjoy snacks and beverages while touring the new King Biscuit Blues Festival office at 321 Phillips St. on historic “Biscuit Row,” continued Parker. Also some of Helena's favorite Farmers' Market vendors will return with a special Christmas Market.
“They will offer home baked goodies for the holidays along with locally made crafts and a variety of canned goods,” commented Parker.
Located right next door to Handworks, Bella will be making its debut in this year's Open House. Parker urges everyone to not miss this great addition to Cherry Street.
The Delta Cultural Center returns as part of Open House this year adds Parker. Besides, a great selection of books, music and other gifts, the DCC also will have their special Christmas ornament available.
Another new participant in the Holiday Open House will be the Helena Museum of Phillips County. Located at 623, Pecan Street, Parkers says the museum is a great place to start the Open House tour. The museum also will offer refreshments for visitors.
Other participants will include: The Mud Puddle, Brian's Picture Framing and Nell Miller.
“Get into the holiday spirit this coming Sunday while enjoying fun and food with your downtown Helena friends,” concluded Parker, “ they'll be looking for you.”
