Wilson Goldsberry Jr. was born Sept. 14, 1961 in West Helena on Pillow Hill.
He departed this life on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013 in Pensacola, Fla.
Wilson Goldsberry gave his life to the Lord at the Springlake Missionary Baptist Church in 1973. He received his formal education in the Helena-West Helena School District. He lived in Milwaukee for many years and moved in Pensacola, Fla. in 1995. While living in Pensacola he attended Edgewater AME Chapel.
Wilson affectionately known as "Cricket" greatly loved his children, Tristian Wainwright, Kristina Wainwright and Devantae. He had a great and lasting friendship with Willie Mathias where Willie and Mary Mathias adopted him as one of their own.
His father, Wilson Goldsberry Sr., and his stepfather, Moses Vance Jr, preceded Willie in death.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving mother, Helen Vance; seven brothers, Alex (Brenda) Vance, Steven (Lenora) Goldsberry, Moses (Ladona) Vance, Johnny (Tabitha) Vance, Macon (Sylvia) Vance, Andra (Brenda) Vance and Sedric Edmond; six sisters, Deborah Jones, Helen (Vincent) Willis, Mary Goldsberry, Vivian (Travis) Garner, Sarah Vance and Chaquita Edmond; his loving grandmother, Willie Dell Jackson, his beloved aunts and uncles, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Funeral services for Wilson Goldsberry Jr. will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16 at Springlake Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. James Frierson will officiate the service. Burial will be in Jackson Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15 in the Robert Lee Brown Memorial Chapel.
