Wayne Clifford Williams, 60, died at his home on Friday, Nov. 1, 2013 in Helena-West Helena. He was born Oct. 24, 1953 in Forrest City to the late Willis C. and Bernice McAllister Williams. A sister, Lisa Michelle Williams, precedes him in death. Williams' formal education began in McCrory where his father was a principal and his mother a teacher. He attended three schools in McCrory – Brown School, grades 1 and 2; Williams School, grades 3 to 7; and McCrory High, grades 8 to 10 – until 1969. Later that year the family moved to West Helena where Williams graduated in 1971 from Central High School. After graduating he briefly attended Phillips College and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville In 1973, Williams enlisted in the Air Force. He served his country for six years until being honorably discharged in 1979. He achieved the rank of staff sergeant as air operation specialist. Following his discharge, he moved to Little Rock where he was employed by Arkansas Children's Hospital for several years. He also attended South Central Career College in North Little Rock and received a diploma in travel and tourism specialist in 1988. Later, he moved back to Helena-West Helena and began working in the maintenance department of the Helena-West Helena School District. He served in that capacity for 18 years until his retirement in 2012. He leaves a son, Shannon Williams, a daughter, Victoria Bellows, a sister, Undrea Williams; three grandchildren, Abrianna, Michelle and Darius; two nephews, Sean and Patrick Williams; a niece, Kaila Williams, an uncle, Melvin McAllister; two aunts, Mae Whaley and Deborah Stegall; and a host of cousins and friends. Williams requested to not have a funeral or memorial services and was cremated. His remaining family members would like for his friends and former co-workers to say a prayer, for now he is at peace. Kincaid Funeral Home officiated the cremation.
