Walter Jett was born March 19, 1950 to the late Charles and Willie Lee Jett Sr. in Lexa. He was one of four children born to this union. Walter lived in the Lexa-Southland community all of his life. Walter worked for Sprayrite Chemical Co. for many years until his health begin to fail. Walter loved spending time with his family, playing various games, and attending cookouts. He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age at Springlake Missionary Baptist Church. His parents, Charles and Willie Lee Jett Sr. and a brother, Charles Jett Jr. preceded Walter in death. On Oct. 28, 2013, Walter departed this life at his home in Helena-West Helena. Walter leaves to cherish his memory, a brother, Melvin (Dolly) Jett of Zion, Ill.; a sister, Mary Jean Ford of Zion, Ill.; an uncle, Ivory (Dorothy) Gatlin of Chicago, Ill.; three aunts, Rebecca Gatlin of Lexa, Dorothy Gatlin, of Helena-West Helena and Celestine Davis of Little Rock; two special nieces, Stephanie (John) Johnson of Zion, Ill. and Marlo M. Jett of Kenosha, Wis.; eight nephews, Selassie Ford, Jr. of Zion, Christopher Scott of Chicago, Melvin Jett Jr. of North Chicago, Anthony Jett of Kenosha, Andre Jett of Zion, Charles Jett III of Chattanooga, Tenn., Phillip Jett of Chattanooga, and Darrell Grigsby of Waukegan, Ill.; 12 great nieces; nine great nephews; three great-grand nieces; two great-grand nephews; and a host of cousins and dear friends. Funeral services for Walter Jett will be held 11a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013 at Springlake M.B. Church. Rev. Robert Taylor will officiate.
