This Saturday, Oct. 19, the KIPP Delta Elementary Literacy Academy Choir, under the direction of Nick Malinowski, will board a bus to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla. to perform as part of Disney's Performing Arts OnStage Program. The trip marks the culmination of more than a year of rehearsing, recording and fundraising for this incredible group of fourth and fifth grade musicians.
Disney's Performing Arts OnStage Program is a competitive, audition-based program that allows school choirs to perform as the stars on stage at Walt Disney World. The KIPP Delta ELA choir submitted a video to the program last spring, and was elated to be selected to perform. In addition to putting on a concert for the patrons at Disney World, the choir will also take part in a choral workshop in which they will hone their craft with professional musicians who perform daily at the resort. It is an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
To celebrate their accomplishment and to help reach their final fundraising goal, the choir will be hosting a silent auction and send-off concert this Friday, Oct. 18, in the undercroft at St. John's Episcopal Church in Helena. Bidding begins with a cocktail hour at 7 p.m., and many excellent items and experiences are up for bids.
Music follows at 8:30, with the KIPP Delta ELA choir performing the very set of music they will sing just 3 days later at Disney World. Please come out, have fun, and support this incredible group of musicians. Any questions can be directed to Nick Malinowski, who can be reached at 870-714-0297.
