Funeral services for Willietta Joy Guydon-Brooks, 52, of Helena, will be held Friday, Oct. 11at New Hope M.B. Church 1517 Holly St., Helena. Rev. Billy Williams will officiate. Visitation will be held from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10 in the Stephens Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in New Zion Cemetery located in Helena-West Helena. Willietta Joy Guydon-Brooks was born Sept. 26, 1961 in Helena to Queen Guydon and the late Chester L. Guydon Sr. She transitioned this life on Oct. 5, 2013. She was called Joy by all her friends and relatives. Few knew her first name. She attended Helena Public Schools and graduated from Central High School in l979. She also attended Phillips Community College. Joy joined New Hope Baptist Church at an early age and was a dedicated member. For the last few years she served as the church treasurer. Joy worked at Fred's Dollar Store for many years and then became a home care provider and later a nanny for two special families. Joy loved to cook and was always trying new recipes. She was a mini mechanic and could diagnose what was wrong with a car. She loved to cut grass and trim hedges. She was handy around the house, being able to fix things that got broken. She was more like a big sister to her children. And she was always a Joy to be around. She leaves to mourn her passing, her mother, Queen Guydon; a daughter, Kendra Denise Brooks of Helena; a son, Willard Ray Brooks of Little Rock; a brother, Stan (Janet) Guydon of Gary, Ind.; a sister, Denise Roulhac; a brother Chester Guydon Jr.; both of Little Rock; a stepdaughter, LaToya Murray of Greenville Miss.; also, the children she loved and cared for, Claudia, Jackson and Tripp; and many loving cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
