A 27-year-old Marianna man was airlifted to The Med in Memphis following a 1-vehicle accident that occurred sometime before 6 a.m. on Saturday, September 21. According to the accident report filed by Phillips County sheriff's deputies, the accident occurred about ¼ of a mile west of Highway 245.
The report states that Joshua White was traveling west on Highway 242 when his vehicle left the highway and struck a tree on the left side of the highway and came to rest on the embankment.
The report continues stating that a bystander, Isaac Villalobos was passing through the area when he spotted a vehicle on its side. Villalobos reportedly stopped when he heard someone calling for help. He called 911.
According to the report, Villalobos stayed with White until help arrived. The report indicated that extrication was not necessary.
However, the vehicle was reportedly totaled and White was flown by helicopter to the trauma center in Memphis.
According to the Sheriff's Department report, the Med notified local law enforcement officials that drugs were found in White's person.
