Improvements to Highway 49 will require a lane closure on the Helena Bridge over the Mississippi River, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.
The Mississippi Department of Transportation will be performing construction activities. This will reduce traffic to one lane. Traffic will be controlled using warning signs, barrels, and flaggers. Wide loads will not be allowed during this time.
The lane closures will begin Monday, Sept. 23 (today) and continue until Friday, Oct. 11. They will only take place between 6:30 a.m. and 5p.m., weekdays, weather permitting.
Motorists should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information can be found at ArkansasHighways.com. You can also follow us on Twitter @AHTD
