  • Using different approaches to teaching is what's taking place in World Lit I at Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas taught by Paulette Parker. Reading stories from the Ancient World time period, Parker's students have learned about Gilgamesh and the story of the flood. After analyzing that story, students then read two other stories on the flood, one in the Bible and another in the Koran. After forming groups and making charts showing the similarities and differences among the three stories, each wrote a comparison/contrast essay using information from their charts. Shown working on their charts are PCCUA students (seated) Shelly Scott, (standing, left to right) Stephon Davis and Elisha Mondy.
