Paul Edmond Johnson, 50, of Lexa was killed on impact after striking a light pole while riding an ATV Saturday night on 462 Phillips County 357 Road. Witnesses reported that the accident occurred around 8:33 p.m. Phillips County Sheriff Neal Byrd and the sheriff's deputies, several Phillips County constables, Pafford Ambulance Service, Marvell police, and County Coroner Earnest Larry arrived at the scene. Johnson's wife, Carol, was reportedly riding with him and suffered multiple injuries and was flown to The Med in Memphis. She was later released. According to Larry, Johnson may have been traveling too fast when approached the curve where the light pole was located. Larry reported that no helmets were worn.
