  • Natacia Davis, of Helena-West Helena, has been selected the 20012-2013 Outstanding Faculty member at Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas (PCCUA). She will be honored as PCCUA's outstanding instructor by the Arkansas Association of Two-Year Colleges (AATYC) in October. Davis joined the college's Helena-West Helena campus in 2009 as an English instructor. She currently teaches Basic Writing I & II, Freshman Composition I & II, and World Literature II. Additionally, she is pursuing a doctoral degree in composition studies at the University of Memphis. On her teaching philosophy, Davis says, according to Zig Ziglar, “If you dream it, then you can achieve it. You can have everything you want in life, if you just help enough other people get what they want.” She adds, ”Since education is the ultimate intangible asset that has the power to touch every aspect of my students' lives, I am, ultimately, a salesperson promoting critical thinking, effective communication, active learning, lifelong learning, and cultural diversity. Essentially, what I want as a teacher is for my students to buy what I am selling and believe in the transformative power of education as much as I do.”
