  • A high-speed vehicle chase resulted in the arrest of two Phillips County men and a juvenile on charges ranging from theft of property to contributing to the delinquency of a minor according to a report filed by the Phillips County Sheriff's Department. Deputy Bobby Nearns responded to a call from Chris Carnathan regarding a pivot alarm on Phillips County Road 222. Nearns met Carnathan at Dee's Barbecue and they both proceeded to field where the alarm had sounded. According to the officer's report, Nearns and Carnathan spotted a dark colored pickup truck leaving the field where the pivot was located. Carnathan told Nearns that three white males were in the truck as it pulled onto PC Road 222. Nearns attempted to stop the truck, but the driver refused and drove around Nearns' patrol unit. Traveling at a very high rate of speed, the truck crossed over Phillips County Road 241 onto Phillips County Road 270. The pickup continued at a high rate of speed until it went head-on into a large ditch. By the time Nearns was able to check the vehicle, all three suspects had fled on foot. Nearns was able to determine that the passengers were injured based on the damage to the vehicle and the amount of blood found inside. After checking out the surrounding area, the occupants of the truck were nowhere to be found. Following further investigation, sheriff's deputies later identified and arrested Frankie Ballard, 38, Donnie Ballard, 18, and a juvenile. Frankie Ballard and Donnie Ballard face charges of theft of property, fleeing, criminal mischief and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
