Helena-West Helena police have arrested three teenage boys in connection with an alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl at a dental clinic in Helena.
Police responded to the call around 3:50 p.m. on Friday, August 23 and were informed that three males reportedly raped a young girl in the boys' bathroom of the Twin City Dental Clinic.
According to police reports, the victim's parent was notified and she was immediately transported to Helena Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Helena-West Helena Police Chief Uless Wallace told Channel 5 News out of Memphis that a rape kit tested positive that the girl had been sexually assaulted.
Police took three male juveniles into custody – two 16-year-olds and a third suspect, age 15. The 16-year-olds were wearing GPS ankle monitors issued by the juvenile courts.
Arkansas State Police recently investigated one of the suspects for allegedly raping a male inmate while he was incarcerated in the White River Detention Center for his alleged involvement in the April shooting of Radio Station KJIW owner Elijah Mondy, who was attempting to help someone at the time he thought was seriously injured.
According to the police report, all three of those arrested are frequently in and out of juvenile court and are “no strangers to trouble.”
Phillips County deputy prosecutors Todd Murray and Faye Reed reported to police that they intend to prosecute the juveniles as adults.
All three are currently in custody at the White River Juvenile Detention Center in Batesville waiting their first appearance in Phillips County Circuit Court scheduled for September 13.
