Dorothy Jean Speed departed this life on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013 in Little Rock.
Dorothy was born Sept. 25, 1960 to the late Rev. Hunter and Louisa Speed Sr. Dorothy confessed a hope in Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of Pleasant Joy M.B. Church until the Lord called her home.
Dorothy received her education in the Helena-West Helena School District. She was a proud graduate of Central High School Class of 1978. She received an Associate's Degree from Phillips Community College. She later received her Bachelor's of Science Degree from the University of Arkansas at Monticello and continued her education by doing graduate studies at Webster University at Little Rock.
Her parents, Rev. Hunter and Louisa Speed Sr. and a brother, Eddie B. Speed, precede her in death.
Dorothy Jean Speed leaves to cherish her memory, two brothers, Hunter (Listeen) Speed Jr. of Hot Springs, Henry (Delois) Speed of Helena-West Helena; two sisters, Ferry (Rev. Issac) Tribune of Helena-West Helena, Sandra Tyler of Conway; four stepsisters, Carolyn (James) Parks of Helena-West Helena, Deborah Pruitt of Memphis, Tenn., Jackie (Ray) Plummer of Little Rock and Sheila (Ira) Parker of Atlanta, Ga.; two nieces; and three nephews who she helped raise as her own children, Erica Speed, Kristan Speed, Christopher Speed, Corey (Beatrice) Speed, all of Helena and Henry (Joerell) Speed Jr.; her nieces, Tiffany Haynes, Quindolyn (Ricky) Daniels, Tasha Haynes and Lakisha Hill; a nephew, Albert Haynes; an aunt, Verna Mae (Allen) Hill; a sister-in-law, Wanda (Willie) Robinson; and a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends.
