Vivian Hoskins, our newest local Delta author, recently announced that she will be hosting a book signing from noon to 3 p.m. at attorney Chalk Mitchell's law office at 407 Cherry Street on August 24. Hoskins, a Helena native, recently published “Perfect Moments -Mature Relationships,” which is seven short stories that detail mature relationships – some concerning long-term commitments and others dealing with new relationships with mature young adults. A wife to her junior high school sweetheart, mother, grandmother, ordained minister, secretary and writing instructor are just a few of the hats that Hoskins wears. She has always had a passion for writing and not being able to find books about mature relationships, she began to write her own. Then, she decided that others might be interested, so she shared story lines with family, friends and acquaintances who expressed so much excitement about the concept that Hoskins decided to write several short stories and have them published. Thus, “Perfect Moments” was conceived. “My stories are realistic, somewhat complicated and full of potential just like most relationships,” described Hoskins. Hoskins said the stories have a variety of settings, from early times to today. She ensures that readers will definitely relate most of the stories because of their own experiences. Here is a brief synopsis of the storylines of “Perfect Moments”. Lasting Love Will Janna and Preston discover their love has flourished when they are thrust into the throes of empty nesters? Easy Like Sunday Morning The church should be a place of saving grace for marriages. Pastor Jackson Harper and his wife Bella are determined their marriage will not be a mirror of their parents' marriages. Gentle Persuasion In the 1800s, marriage was quite different from today. Do grandma and momma always know best? Helen has a lesson that her mother will learn about marriage and the intimacy of it. His Plan No baby daddy drama for him, but Manny finds that God has a different plan and he is not going to let Sylvester ruin it for him and Gina. Somebody Loves You Sometimes romance can be elusive because responsibilities and life get in the way. Romantic moments are few and far between, but every so often they find their way into our lives, and it is well worth the wait. Reunion The pain of divorce is agonizing and leaves scars, but it is better to have scars of healing than open wounds of bitterness. It will take an act of God for Garrison and Celeste to be reunite. B.C. Imagine cavemen being anything but brutes, dragging their women by the hair and beating their chests. Is there another kind of caveman? “Perfect moments are the unexpected moments. We have all experienced them but have not always recognized and embraced them. Experience and embrace the perfect moments of these characters as they remind you of your own,” said Hoskins.
