Wildfire danger is rated moderate in Phillips County and all but 16 eastern Arkansas counties. The National weather Service has advised that drought conditions are developing across the state. Fields are starting to show the effects. Even though fire conditions aren't as acute in northeast Arkansas, the heart of the state's farmland, growers are responding to the dry weather and irrigation is in full swing on all summer crops. The taps have been turned on in Phillips County but as shown above not on a full-time basis. The NWS at Little Rock says the possibility of rain in the near future looks slim at best.
