James Aubrey Burchett, 62, of Little Rock and formerly of Barton, passed on June 12, 2013 at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock surrounded by his family. This quiet and gentle life for the late James Burchett III began on Sept. 6, 1950 in Lexa to Callie Burchett and the late James Burchett Jr. James confessed a hope in Christ at an early age at the Beulah Missionary Baptist Church. He served in various capacities at the church and also served as a deacon. After moving to Little Rock, he attended Temple of Joy Christ of Christ. James graduated from Barton High School in 1969 and attended A&M College in Pine Bluff. He was a family man who helped his mother support his younger siblings after the death of their father in 1975 by taking over the farm while holding steadfast to God's word. James married Ellen Delois Hare on July 18,1980 and to this union seven children were born. A son (Nicholas) preceded him in death. James nourished his wife, mother, siblings, children, grandchildren, cousins and friends with love, kindness and wisdom. His gentle nature harbored no hardness, but radiated love to all of those who knew him. He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his devoted wife, Ellen Burchett; four sons Darius Brimley (Shaneice) of Oklahoma, Demetrius Brimley of Washington, D.C., Jeremaine Burchett (LaShar) of Texas, Jamuel Burchett (Jamie) of Kentucky; two daughters, Tavia Burchett (Leon) of Barton and Jamie Burchett of Little Rock; his loving mother, Mrs. Callie Mae Burchett of Barton; three brothers, Michael Burchett (Audrey Sue) of Barton, Rickey Burchett (Carletta) of Little Rock, Marcelius Burchett (Erica) of Barton; three sisters, James Ella “Penney” Moore of Helena-West Helena, Shelvey Hunter (Herman) of Barton, Joann Morton (Morris) of Albany, N.Y. and James Ella Moore of Helena-West Helena; 24 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; an uncle, Charlie Holeman of Brinkley; four aunts, Ruby Lee Newell of Helena-West Helena, Lucy Childs of Memphis, Mrs. Willie Tillman of Gary, Ind., Dorothy Banks of Wisconsin; his sisters-in-law, Jackie Hare, Jean Hare, Carolyn (Dale) Howard, Mary Harris, all of Detroit, Mich., Lucille Deisch and Terri Deisch, of Helena-West Helena; a special sister-in-law, Doris Burchett, of Little Rock; a close and dear friend, Earl Ralleigh; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, James Burchett Jr., his maternal grandparents Eddie and Apples McDowell, his paternal grandparents, James Burchett Sr., (Sarah Burchett) and Pearline Burchett, his son Nicholas Burchett, three brothers, Charles Patrick Burchett, Emmitt Burchett, Roosevelt Burchett (Hamp), two sisters Evelyn Burchett and Sarah Burchett McConney and a brother-in-law, Edward Harris. Funeral services for James A. Burchett will be held 1p.m. Saturday, June 22at New Haven M.B. Church. Rev. Jerome Turner will officiate. Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 21 in the Robert Lee Brown Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Beulah M.B. Church Cemetery at Oneida, AR.
