George Williams, 89, of Helena-West Helena, AR departed this life on May 31, 2013 at Helena Regional Medical Center.
George Williams was born Nov. 11, 1923, in Wabash to the late Jasper Williams and Pearl Williams. Both parents preceded him in death.
He accepted Christ at an early age. He later joined The Church of the Living God and was faithful until death. He was a deacon in training.
George was educated in Wabash public schools.
George was employed with Chicago Mill until it closed. He later worked for the Helena School District for many years as a bus driver.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a son, Jeffery Williams of Tyler, Texas; two daughters, Rosalyn (Ranglon) Barksdale of Helena, Vivian Oden of Arlington, Texas; six stepdaughters, Lula (Ronald) Dixon of Cleveland, Ohio; Carolyn Coffey of Memphis, Tenn.; Eddye Dunbar of Little Rock, Dianna Collins of Oak Park, Mich.; Carolyn (Percy) Jordan, Evelyn (Felix) Akinboboye of Horn Lake, Miss.; four brothers, Willie (Bobbie) Williams of Chicago, Ill.; James C (Alice) Williams of Chicago, Frank (Millie) Williams of Chicago, Sammie (Christine) Williams of Chicago; five sisters, Delois (Harvey) Taylor of Chicago, Marie (Johnnie) Terry of Chicago, Elnora (William) Young of Helena-West Helena, Pearl Pope of Helena-West Helena, Dinah (Desmond) Whyte of Chicago; eight grandchildren; a very special granddaughter, Tyanna Williams; a very special niece, Genora Mosby; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, church members and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8 at Church of The Living God PGOT, 201 Memphis St., Helena-West Helena. Elder Joe Greer will officiate the service.
Visitation will be held 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, June 7 in the Robert Lee Brown Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Jackson Memorial Gardens.
