Thelma Jean Wilborn, 72, of Helena-West Helena, departed this life May 30, 2013 at her home surrounded by family. Thelma Jean Wilborn, affectionately known as Ms “Mickey”, was born Dec. 27, 1941 in Lexa, to the late James Sr. and Ella (Jackson) Van. Thelma joined the Spring Lake Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. She later joined New Haven Missionary Baptist Church. She remained loyal to her faith until her health failed. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Arvell Wilborn Sr. To this union nine children were born. Five preceded her in death, Michael Wilborn, JacquelineWilborn-Walker, Timothy Wilborn, Marcus Wilborn and Steven Wilborn. Thelma attended Eliza Miller High School. She later received her Certified Nursing Certificate and worked for many local families as a private duty nurse. Thelma was well loved and respected in the community. She was always willing and ready to help anyone in their time of need. If you ever needed anything done “Ms. Mickey” was the one to call. Mickey was truly an inspiration to her family, friends, and she never met a stranger. On March 23, 1996, Thelma Jean Wilborn was united in holy matrimony to Jesse Gatlin Sr. A sister, “Doll”, a grandson precede her in death, Otis Charles Smith Jr., a granddaughter, Shimekia Renee Wilborn. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Jesse Gatli, Sr.; four Children, Sherry Ann Wilborn of Tampa, Fla., Arvell Wilborn Jr. of Beautfort, S.C., Cardell Wilborn of Kenosha, Wis. and Cynthia Wilborn of Little Rock; a brother, James Van Jr. of Fayetteville, N.C.; two sisters, Eula Dentmond of Pine Bluff, and Christine Roy of Collinsville, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services for Thelma" Mickey" Wilborn will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 8 at SpringLake M.B. Church. Rev. LaVara Henry will officiate the service. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 7 in the Robert Lee Brown Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Words of comfort may be expressed to the family at
