Rosetta Sheppard, 88, of Helena, transitioned from her earthly home to her eternal home on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 12, 2013 in Little Rock. Rosetta Sheppard was born Oct. 7, 1924 in Lula, Miss. to the late John Sheppard and Della Carruth. Rosetta confessed a hope in Christ at First Baptist M.B. Church. Rosetta grew up in Lula. She attended Coahoma County School in Lula and later moved to Helena, where she continued her education at the Helena Elementary School. She was employed with the Corps of Engineers until her health failed her. She loved her family and friends. She showed love by doing whatever she could to help. She was united in holy matrimony to Ulyssis Reed in 1945 and no children were born to this union. Rosetta was preceded in death by her parents, John Sheppard and Della Carruth, a son, Robert Sheppard, and a granddaughter, Stephanie Thompson. She leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, Ivory Sheppard of West Palm Beach, Fla., Joseph B. Hall of Helena; her daughters, Idella Drummond, of West Palm Beach, Elizabeth (Dwight) Marsenberg of Little Rock, Bobbie Jean Sheppard of Los Angeles, Calif., Catherine (Tommy) Rollins of Wilmont of Magnolia (Ladell) Maggett of Helena-West Helena; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, cousins, friends; and special friends, Louise Young, Ms. Bea, Ms. Lilly Mae, Mr. Mack, Ms. Marie, Ms. Pauline, and Ms. Earnestine. Funeral services for Rosetta Sheppard will be held at 1 p.m. at New Light M.B. Church on Saturday, May 18 with Rev. Nathaniel Hull Jr. officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Robert Lee Brown Memorial Chapel on Friday, May 17. Burial will be in Jackson Memorial Gardens.
