A Philips County woman is in custody facing drug-related charges after a Phillips County Sheriff's deputy discovered the makings of an active lab in her vehicle. According to Lt. Sylvester Rose's report, the incident occurred Wednesday (May 1) on Phillips County Road 222 around 3:20 p.m. Rose's narrative states that he was traveling toward Southland Road after checking on some pivots. He noticed a blue car parked at the entrance to a field. Rose spotted a female, later identified as Amanda Loomis. The officer asked Loomis what she was doing to which she replied that she had gone down the road to change her shirt. He noted that she was wearing gloves. On the passenger seat, Rose said he saw a clear bottle with what appeared to be an “active lab.” “I walked around to the passenger side of the car and saw a bottle of drain cleaner and liquid fire cleaner,” stated Rose in his report. “I told Ms. Loomis to get of the car that she was under arrest.” According to Rose, Loomis got on her cell phone and told him that she was calling her lawyer. At the same time, Rose called Lt. Brain Holloway of the PCSO and told him that he had an “active” meth lab. As Rose hung up his phone, Loomis proceeded to put her vehicle in drive and sped away. Rose began pursuit immediately in his unit. Rose's report states that he saw Loomis throw a bottle from the vehicle while driving recklessly along Phillips County Road 241. She traveled along PC Road 270 before making a left turn on PC 237. As she was driving, she reportedly threw three other items from the car. The vehicle chase ended on Lee County Road 215 when she jumped out the vehicle and ran into the woods and Rose was able to apprehend her. Rose looked inside the vehicle and found camping fuel and denture alcohol. Loomis was transported back to the sheriff's office. Rose returned to the area where Loomis apparently threw the items out of the car and found drain opener, liquid fire drain cleaner and a “shake and bake” bottle. The report did not list the charges Loomis faces. At press time, she was reportedly still in custody.
