  • Open Door Food Pantry in Marvell recently announced the pantry received a grant from the Walmart Foundation in the amount of $25,000 which allowed the pantry to “Go Green” by replacing the cardboard boxes previously used with reusable canvas tote bags that the clients bring with them each month to receive food items provided.

  • Open Door Food Pantry in Marvell recently announced the pantry received a grant from the Walmart Foundation in the amount of $25,000 which allowed the pantry to “Go Green” by replacing the cardboard boxes previously used with reusable canvas tote bags that the clients bring with them each month to receive food items provided. The grant also allowed the pantry to increase the amount and quality of the food distributed by a substantial amount during the grant period. Jo Turner notified the Marvell Open Door Pantry that the Walmart foundation was providing grants to distressed areas in the Delta. Barbie Washburn, the pantry's grant writer, went online and applied for the grant for the food and reusable tote bags. The Open Door Food Pantry is grateful to the Walmart Foundation for this generous grant.
