Alfred B. Black Sr., 55, of Jacksonville passed away on April 17, 2013 in Little Rock. Alfred Bernard Black Sr. was born May 6, 1957 to the union of Vernon Sr. and Pauline Black in Helena. He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age at Second Baptist Church of Lexa. He later joined Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Little Rock, where he served for over 20 years dedicating his time, his talents, and service to the Lord and his church where he was a faithful member. His mother, Pauline V. Black, precedes Alfred in death. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 20 years, Carolyn J. Black of Little Rock; three sons, Alfred Jr. (Evelyn) of Dallas, Jamaica (Tanisha) of San Diego, Artie of Russellville; a daughter, Toccara (Kevin Shorter) of Little Rock; his father, Vernon Black Sr. of Lexa; two brothers, Vernon Jr. (Mary) of Little Rock and Sylvester (Chandra) of Little Rock; three sisters, Dorothy (Larry) Bonds, Debra (Robin) White both of Dallas and Ruby (Ken) Moore of Little Rock; two granddaughters, Kayla of Little Rock and Areonna Sublett of Mobile, Ala.; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends, and special friends Linda Jacobs of Conway, Ellis Irving of Karmack, Texas and Elton Sykes of Florida. Funeral services for Alfred B. Black Sr. will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27 at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 1200 Hanger Hill Dr., Little Rock with Rev. Willie Buchanan officiating the services. Visitation will be Friday, April 26 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Second Baptist Church at Lexa.
