Interment will follow immediately in Jackson Memorial Cemetery at Southland. Visitation will be Friday, April 26 from 1 to 5:30 p.m. at Jackson – Highley Funeral Home in Helena-West Helena. Deloris Young was born June 8, 1944 to the late George Young and Alberta Hollowell in Marvell. She accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age and joined the Miracle Temple C.O.G.I.C. She later joined the Greater Miracle C.O.G.I.C. where she remained until her health failed. Her parents, four brothers, two sisters, and a son, Edmond Booker, precede her in death. Affectionately known as “Lois,” she was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was very quiet and humble. She enjoyed listening to gospel music, reading her Bible and spoiling her grandchildren. On April 17, 2013 an angel escorted Lois through Heaven's open doors. She accepted the call and made her way up the King's highway to the everlasting arms of the Lord. She leaves to cherish her memory eight daughters, Deloris (Charles) Holder, Sheila Booker, Minnie (Curtis) Tobar, Lavern Booker and Michelle Booker, all of Helena-West Helena, Debra (James) Lindsey of Omaha Neb., Janice Booker of Chicago and Lavern Booker of Sacramento Calif., two sons, Michael Booker of Helena-West Helena, Solomon Booker Jr. of Nashville, Tenn.; two sisters, Willie Hargrove of Helena-West Helena and Willie Jean Brown of Chicago; three brothers, J.B. Young of Chicago Heights, Ill., L.C. Young of Chicago and Algee (Charlene) Hollowell of Cleveland Ohio; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
