Rev. Willie Brown will officiate.
Visitation will be held from noon to 6 p.m. in the Stephens Funeral Home Chapel.
Nettie Mae Mitchell was born to the late Daniel Swift and Pearlie Mae Stubblefield in Marianna on April 15, 1914.
Nettie received the Lord as her savior at an early age. She was a member of True Vine Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years.
Nettie was a people person. She not only raised her children, but she helped raised other children as well, no matter the color it didn't matter to her.
In the early years of Nettie's life she worked as an in-service person. She stayed with people in their homes, hospital and nursing home as their aide.
Her age didn't stop her from cooking and washing her clothes. Whenever you saw her and asked her how she felt she would say, “Still kicking but not high.”
Nettie attended church on Sunday, April 14 and celebrated her 99th birthday on Monday, April 15 with her family and friends with singing. She was overjoyed. God called Nettie to her heavenly home on Friday, April 19,2013 to praise Him.
Her children, Ossie Brown and Willie Labon, preceded her in death.
Nettie leaves to cherish her memory, 3 sisters, Katherine Gray of Dallas, Mary Freeman and Beatrice Johnson, both of Helena-West Helena; grandchildren, Betty Jean Brown-Robinson of Helena-West Helena, Ruthie Mae Brown of Georgia, Katie (Jessie) Hopson of Belleville, Ill., Bessie Green of Jonesboro, Ga.; 33 great-grandchildren; 44 great-great- grandchildren; a special friend, Lucindy Thomas; a host of nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
