Michael D. “Hoot” Cox, 59, of Marvell, passed away Monday, April 22, 2013 at his home.
Mr. Cox was born Oct. 12, 1953 at Lepanto, to the late C.W. Cox and the late Ethel Adams Cox Doty. Mike worked for Insulations and Refactories Services for many years until his health failed. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved the outdoors. Mike served as constable of Cleveland Township for 15 years. He was a member of Marvell United Methodist Church.
He leaves his wife of 33 years, Donna “Mickie” Cox; two sons, John Furman (Louise) of Walls, Miss. and Michael Furman (Connie) of Alabama; a daughter, Kristi Cox Miller (Dwayne) of Snow Lake; nine grandchildren, Michael D. Coates, Jacob Cox, Jorden Miller, Taylor Miller, April Smith, Austin Miller, Dwayne Miller Jr., Brendan Mooney and Avery Mooney; a great-grandchild, Cyser Smith; a sister, Jan Wright (Charles) of Helena-West Helena; four brothers, Johnny Cox (Karyn) of Clinton, Joey Cox, Frankie Cox and C.W. “Dub” Cox Jr., all of Jonesboro.; several nieces and nephews; and a lifelong friend, Roger Owens.
His parents preceded him in death.
Services for Michael D. “Hoot” Cox will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, April 27, at Marvell United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held before the services from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. Rev. Kirk Doering will officiate.
