Lula Ann Thomas-Green, 63, of Barton, made her transition from this life on April 11, 2013 at a Memphis hospital. Lula Ann Thomas-Green was born on May 6, 1949 to the late A.D. and Mary Lilly Thomas. Lula confessed her faith in Christ at an early age at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Helena. Lula joined Point Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church after New Hope closed. She continued her dedication to her service as a member of Star of Bethlehem Missionary Church where she remained faithful until her health began to fail. Lula was a graduate of Eliza Miller High School Class of 1969. She married Calvin Green and to that union three children were born, Calvin, Angela, preceded her in death, and Kimberly. Lula worked several jobs in the community where she gained many friends until her health failed including Helena Chemical Co., Holiday Inn and Wal-Mart. Lula was preceded in death by her parents, A.D. and Mary Thomas, a daughter, Angela, her sisters, Vassie Finley, and Essie Kielingoath, four brothers, A D. Thomas, Luther Thomas, W.H. Thomas and Maurice Thomas. She leaves to cherish her memory, a son, Calvin (Sheila) Green of Memphis; a daughter, Kimberly Green of Memphis; four grandchildren, Brandon, Arthur Jr., Candance and Robert, all of Memphis; her brothers, Roscoe Thomas of Chicago, Harvey (Marilyn) Thomas of Atlanta and Larry (Kathy) Thomas of Chicago; her sisters, Ethel Mae Trice of Little Rock, Hazel Stamps of St. Louis, Carrie Mae Pittman of Harvey, Ill., Katherine Hall of Markham, Ill., Joyce Marshall of Florence, S.C. and Carolyn Smith of Barton; and her aunts, Bessie Redmen of Chicago and Christine Williams of Haywood, California; and an uncle, Rosevelt (Lillie B) Lilly of Chicago; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends. Funeral services for Lula Ann Thomas-Green will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 20 at New Haven M.B. Church. Rev Tommy Stevenson will officiate the service. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 19, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Robert Lee Brown Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery.
