Funeral service for Lakendra Nicole Brown, 24, of Memphis and formerly of Helena-West Helena, will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 20 at Freedonia M.B. Church in Helena-West Helena.
Rev.Robert Buckingham of Memphis will officiate.
Visitation will be noon to 6 p.m. Friday, April 19, at Stephens Funeral Home.
Internment will be in New Zion Cemetery in Helena-West Helena.
Lakendra Nicole Brown was born Oct. 21, 1988 to Larry Brown and Carolyn Brown Givens in Helena. She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age at the Freedonia M.B. Church. As a young girl she sang in the choir and was a faithful member until moving to Memphis.
Lakendra enjoyed doing hair and she attended Rust College in Holly Spring, Miss. She was a 2007 graduate of Hillcrest High School in Memphis. She was employed at the Dodge Store in Memphis and Helen Troy in South Haven, Miss. Lakendra departed this life on Sunday, April 14, 2013.
She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Louise Richardson and great grandmother, Elnora King. She leaves to cherish her memory, her mother, Carolyn Brown (Leon) Givens of Memphis; her father, Larry (Mae Bailey) Brown of Memphis; 3 sisters, LaToya and Tiffany Brown of Memphis and Stephanie Brown of Jonesboro; 2 brothers, Kenyatta Devon Brown of Memphis and Larry Brown Jr. of Russellville; her grandmother, Artelia Brown of Helena-West Helena; her grandfather, James Richardson and J.T. Brown of Helena-West Helena; a special niece, Taniyah Douglas of Memphis; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will miss her dearly.
