  • Better luck next time, Alec Baldwin!
NBC has renewed Last Call with Carson Daly for a 13th season, just a day after The New York Times reported that the 30 Rock star was in talks with to host a late-night show that would air during Last Call's timeslot.
Fall TV Scorecard: Which shows are returning? Which aren't?
"We are thrilled to continue our relationship with Carson who has broken the mold, creating his own unique late-night show format with Last Call," NBC President of Alternative and Late Night Programming Paul Telegdy said in a statement. "The show has become a platform for emerging artists - and Carson's engaging interview style has made it the place for insightful conversations with an eclectic group of new stars as well as established icons and news makers."
The news comes as NBC prepares to overhaul part of its late-night programming, when Jimmy Fallon succeeds Jay Leno as the host of The Tonight Show in spring 2014. It is still unclear who will replace Fallon as the host of Late Night, but SNL's Seth Meyers is rumored to be a front-runner for the gig.
Stars who deserve a late-night talk show
Premiering in 2002, Last Call has changed drastically from a conventional sit-down format, similar to The Tonight Show and Late Night, to a documentary-like shooting style, which regularly sees Daly interviewing subjects on locations at restaurants and other locales. "I'm extremely proud of what we've accomplished with Last Call," Daly, 39, said. "I love coming to work every day and having the opportunity to collaborate with this incredible team. We are always looking to give viewers something new and fresh that they can't find anywhere else on television. I'm grateful to have the chance to continue doing what I love the most."
Page 2 of 2 - In addition to hosting and executive-producing NBC's mega-hit The Voice, Daly has been expanding his duties at the network in other areas. He recently co-hosted the 9 a.m. hour of the Today show during the last week of March.
Are you excited that Last Call is coming back? Or are you sad Baldwin isn't coming to late night?
