  • April 6 is the date that has been set for the season's second Live on the Levee concert. Legendary southern rock band Jimmy Hall and Wet Willie will headline the event. Special guests will be the Jack Rowell Jr. Band. The concert will be held in the Malco Theatre on Cherry Street. The doors will open at 6 p.m. and the music will get underway promptly at 7 p.m. Wet Willie, formerly known as Fox, was organized in Mobile, Ala. back in 1969. The band's sound is a combination of high energy, rhythm and blues, down home soul and rock/blues. They are best known for their Top 10 single, “Keep on Smilin.” Wet Willie's career has spanned 40 years and has recorded 14 albums. Their latest CD is titled “Keep on Smilin'” and was released in 2012. The group features prominent vocals by Jimmy Hall and strong musicianship throughout the band. Wet Willie is closer in musical spirit to rhythm and blues artists such as James Brown and Wilson Pickett than to their label mates the Marshall Tucker Band and the Allman Brothers. Tickets can be bought at www.KingBiscuitFestival.com. The Live on the Levee concert series is held in partnership with the King Biscuit Blues Festival, the Sonny Boy Blues Society and the Delta Bridge Project. For additional information about the concert, log on to www.KingBiscuitFestival.com or call 870-572-5223.
