  • Will Stanley, director of Helena Second Saturdays has recently announced that Helena Second Saturdays will reconvene this year and presented the city council with the Helena Second Saturdays permit seeking approval for the downtown festivities that are focused on rejuvenating community pride and the quality of life in downtown Cherry street including new downtown investments. “We operate six events that happen from now until September where visitors are invited to experience a casual stroll along Cherry Street while sampling complimentary refreshments, buying local products, listening to local musicians, viewing local art and basking in the authentic Delta experience,” explained Stanley. Stanley presented the 3rd season permit for Helena Second Saturday that detailed security, musicians, food providers, and the relationship with Mid Delta Transit, offering rides to folks who would like to shop without all the extra walking. “We will also be operating a beer garden with the proper alcohol permits, in the Kelley Court Yard where funds are collected for the Helena Second Saturday events and provides folks with family fun with live music and a variety of beverages to drink,” commented Stanley. Councilman Larry Brown moved to approve the permit presented in the spirit of community gathering together and breaking down that racial barrier so everyone can partake in the events provided. The permit has been approved and the anticipated theme for the first round of events will reflect “April Showers bring May flowers, but you have to plant the seed first” with a Seed Spitting contest. Events begin April 13th.
