Gerald Catlett, 85, of Marvell passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at the Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock.
One of five children in the home of Cecil and Lorene (Manning) Catlett, he was born June 25, 1927 at Turner. After his school days were over Gerald joined the Navy and after completing his tour of duty received an honorable discharge.
Gerald loved farming and spent a lifetime working his own land. When retirement came he still enjoyed seeing the harvest of the many farmers in the community. In the quiet times of farming Gerald enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
In earlier years he served as board member for the Service Co-op Gin, councilman for the City of Marvell and volunteer fireman for the Fire Department.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Cecil and Lorene Catlett, two brothers, Nelson Catlett, Marion Catlett and a sister, Mildred Catlett.
The immediate family that remains include his wife of 64 years, Peggy Catlett; a son, Randy Catlett and wife, Tammy, all of Marvell; a daughter, Gloria Lawrence and husband, Jim of Sherwood; a sister, Dorothy Boals and husband, Harold of Helena-West Helena; two grandchildren, Matthew Catlett, Tammy Moss; and four great- grandchildren.
