  • Easier Grout Tooling

  • Paint stirrers make grout clean and keep it from getting saturated with water
    • email print
  • Club member James Faussett of Durham, North Carolina, uses the
handle end of a wooden paint stirring stick to tool the grout lines of 4-1/2-in. wall tile. He removes excess grout by pulling the factory-cut corner of the handle along the grout line. Keeping the stick moistened with water prevents it from pulling out all of the grout. Unlike using a sponge, you don’t have to wait for the grout to set up before tooling it with a stirring stick. (A sponge tends to saturate the grout with water, which can make it so soupy it loses its grip.)
