Funeral services for Curley "Joe" Young will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2 at King Solomon MB Church. Rev. Cedric Pride will officiate. Visitation will be Friday, March 1 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Robert Lee Brown Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in New Zion Cemetery. Mr. Curley Young was born Sept. 26, 1935 in Marvell to the late Ellis and Nellie Young. God called him home on Feb. 19, 2013 at the Helena Regional Medical Center in Helena. His father, Ellis Young, his mother, Nellie Young, two sisters, Mary Vinyard and Savannah Gray and a brother, preceded Mr. Young in death. Mr. Young confessed a hope in Christ in 1989 and was baptized by the late Reverend P.L. Perkins at the King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church where he faithfully served as an usher for 24 years until his health failed him. Mr. Young married Ida Mae Bridges in 1953 and to this union a daughter was born. In 1989 he married Louise Donald until he was called home. Mr. Young was a workingman who held many different jobs but was last employed at the Helena Port Terminal for over 20 years. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 24 years, Louise Young; daughters, Beatrice (James) Richardson of Illinois, Barbara Young of Michigan, Lela Johnson of Helena; sons, Lenel (Charlotte) Vaughn of Texas; Michael (Glenda) Hawkins of Kansas, Ronnie Carr of Little Rock, Vernon Felix of Helena and Vincent (Shavonda) Craig of Helena-West Helena; a special grandson, Terrance Carr; a host of grand/great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
