The Helena Advertising & Promotion (A&P) Commission has named Julia Nordsieck as its new director. Nordsieck will be responsible for helping develop and promote Helena as a tourist destination. She is the first staff person the commission has hired. Nordsieck comes to the Helena A&P Commission from Southern Bancorp Community Partners, where she was the senior community development officer. She has degrees in business finance and special education and currently serves on both the Main Street Helena and Crossroads Coalition boards. “I believe we finally have sufficient tourism infrastructure in place to justify the need to hire an individual dedicated to telling our story” stated Don Etherly, alderman and commission member. “In the past this has been done on a volunteer basis by our Commission members and while they have given hours of their time to the effort, it is important for us now to hit a 'home-run' for visitor attraction and we think Julia can help us do that.” “I'm excited to be a part of making Helena a better place to visit and live. Helena has so much potential. We already have great people and assets.” Said Nordsieck. “It's time for us to start promoting what we have. If we don't do it, no one else will.” Nordsieck's fiancé, Nick Malinowski, is the choir director for KIPP Delta Public Schools. They both relocated to Helena from New York City. The Helena Advertising & Promotion Commission administers and oversees funds received from the two percent hotel, motel and restaurant tax. Funds are used to support tourism and public recreation and to advertise and promote the city. Please contact Nordsieck at 870-714-2844 or Julia@VisitHelenaAR.com with any questions.
