Funeral services for Bishop Jeremiah Jerry McKing Sr. will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9 at the Greater St. Mary Church at Lexa. Apostle Matthew McKing will officiate.
Burial will be in Oak Grove No. 3. Visitation will from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8 in the Robert Lee Brown Memorial Chapel.
Bishop Jeremiah Jerry McKing Sr. was born Aug. 17, 1930 in Helena to Elijah McKing and Beady Ann Allen. He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized at Beautiful Zion M.B. Church.
Bishop McKing worked for many years as a laborer at Chicago Mill Logging Co. He later received his calling to the ministry and pastored several churches in the area including Church of God In Christ, Pine City, Church of God In Christ, Midland Heights and Miracle Temple.
Bishop McKing is preceded in death by his parents, Elijah McKing and Beady Ann Allen, his wife, Mattie Lee McKing, three sons, Apostle Will McKing, Jeremiah McKing Jr., Jackie Jackson and a granddaughter, Mattie Willis.
He leaves to cherish his memory, two sons, Harry McCain and Apostle Matthew McKing; a daughter, Betty Ann Zigler and a host of grandchildren, cousins and dear friends.
