Helena Regional Medical Center recently announced that they now provide wound care and hyperbaric medicine, right here in Helena.
If you suffer with a chronic, non-healing wound, the Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center at HRMC is the specialized care you need.
“HRMC is so excited about this new clinic and the customized treatment that patients will receive,” says Sharon Martin, marketing director.
HRMC has a unique team of specialists dedicated to the treatment and healing of chronic, non-healing wounds and will work closely with your primary care physician to customize a treatment plan just for you.
Hyperbaric Oxygen is a medical treatment that increases the amount of oxygen in the patient's blood allowing oxygen to pass more easily through the plasma into the wounds to help them heal. The HBO (Hyperbaric Oxygen) chamber surrounds the patient with 100 percent oxygen at higher than normal atmospheric pressure. It is painless and proven to help the body heal.
“Scottie is not beaming anyone up, but there will be some amazing happenings”, commented Martin about these high tech space age looking chambers.
They are single person chambers that are clear acrylic and are roomy and allow adequate light and two-way communication through an intercom and private headset.
“Patients are monitored by a certified hyperbaric tech and registered nurses trained in Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy and can even relax, watch TV or listen to your favorite tunes will receiving this therapy,” reported Martin. “Bedsores, diabetic ulcers, non-healing trauma wounds, bone infections, thermal burns are just a few of many areas treated,” explained Martin.
