Teachers, parents, friends or neighbors, know of someone who has the unique talent of writing poetry? Then this is the opportunity for you.
Who: The Central Arkansas Library System is announcing their student poetry contest, grades 6 through 8 and 9 through 12.
What: Submit one poem detailing one of the four seasons of the year. It can be written in any form however there is a line limit of 25 lines. The poem must be submitted in two copies neatly typed or computer-generated on 8 x 11 white sheet of paper, single-spaced and detail the proper division category on both copies in the upper left corner. One copy of the poem should detail student name and address, school name and address and current grade. Be sure to certify that your poem is your very own by writing “My poem has not been copied in whole or part from another author's work, including poems on the Internet,” and sign your name.
When: Deadline for submission is Feb. 22 and each winning applicant in the junior (6-8) and senior divisions (9-12) will receive cash wards in the amount for placing first, second, third and fourth place.

This opportunity doesn't cost anything except the writing creativity of the young poets in the area. This is their chance to really express their creativity and even earn a few bucks.
Judging will be final and all winners will be contacted in March and invited to read their winning poem at the Litfest Youth Competition, Saturday April 20. Awards will be mailed to winners who are not present.
