  • For those dreaming of a white Christmas, the first snow of the new winter season came just a few hours late. Sometime after the midnight hour, a mixture of snow and rain moved into Phillips County leaving a layer of white on everything it happened to light on. It was a day after Christmas Winter Wonderland. Fort Curtis received its first snowfall after its official dedication this past summer. Local houses and bed & breakfasts looked like Currier & Ives Christmas cards. Where else but the Delta could you find a barge navigating the Mighty Mississippi making its way past Helena's River Park. By Thursday, most of the winter weather was expected to be out of the area. There's still almost three months of winter, so there should be more in the days ahead.
