  • Funeral services for the late Alvin Bernard Smith will be held at noon, Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012 in the Lake View High School Gymnasium. Bishop Ronald Bailey will officiate. Visitation will be held noon to 6 p.m. at Stephens Funeral Home on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012. Internment will be in Jackson Memorial Garden. Alvin Bernard Smith, 44, of Little Rock and formerly of Lake View, Arkansas passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012 at UAMS surrounded by his family. Smith was born Jan. 24, 1968 in Lake View, to Joe C. and Hermistine Smith. Alvin was the youngest of 12 children. Alvin attended C.V. White School from 1974-1986 then later attended college at the University of Arkansas in Jonesboro. Alvin lived in Battle Creek Mich. for a number of years where he worked as a professional truck driver for Schneider National Trucking. Later Alvin moved to Arlington, Texas where he also worked as a professional truck driver for Weiner & AAA Cooper Trucking Co. for several years. Alvin remained faithful to the Lord. He served faithfully in the Church as an usher, and the choir. He accepted his calling into the ministry until his health began to fail. Alvin enjoyed watching and playing basketball. He also enjoyed singing and playing the piano, bowling and fishing. He was a people person. Whenever Alvin was around there was never a dull moment. He was always very cheerful, caring and loving. Alvin moved back home to Little Rock, to be near his family. He attended faithfully at Triumphant Deliverance Fellowship until his home going. His father and mother, Joe C. and Hermistine Smith, a sister Ruby J. Bobo and brother Joe C. Smith Jr precede Alvin in death. He leaves to cherish his memory, a daughter, Tynesia Johnson; 3 brothers, Richard E. (Gussie) Smith, John H. (Charlene) Smith and Calvin D. (Willie) Smith; 6 sisters, Dirthia (Charles) Roberts, Debra F. (Christopher) Sims, Christine (Kevin) Allmon, Vivian D. Smith, Linda M. Harris and Karen J. (George) Taylor; a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends who will miss him dearly. Services are entrusted to Stephens Funeral Home.
