Roger Dale King, 55, of Poplar Grove, passed away Sunday, Dec.16, 2012 at his home surrounded by family and friends. Dale was born Dec. 6, 1957 in Helena, to the late Maburn King Sr. and Helen Goldman King. Roger Dale married Debra Sue Henderson on April 10, 1982 in West Helena. For them it was love at first sight. Although Debra's father had a few objections, Big Dale never gave up until he married his soul mate. Big Dale opened Dale's Auto Parts-Carquest in 1994. He sold the store to O'Reily Auto Parts in 2007 but remained as an employee until his sickness. Dale leaves his wife of 31 years, Debra King of Poplar Grove; his mother, Helen King of Helena-West Helena; a daughter, Kati Wood (Seth) of Lexa; three sons, Lil Dale King (Brandi) of Helena-West Helena; Zachary King (Sarah) of Jonesboro, Allen King of Poplar Grove; and his “adopted son” and long-time friend, Danny Jones of Barton. He had the privilege of being an amazing “Papa” to seven wonderful grandchildren, Tori Grandin, Erin Grandin, Tatum King, Ramsey Wood, Seth Wood II, Gwyneth Wood and Oliver King. Dale also leaves two sisters, Faye Gordon (Graham) of Gastonia, N. C. and Pat Fuller (Frank) of Natchez, Miss.; two brothers, Maburn King Jr. (Peggy) of Sheridan and Wayne King of Batesville, Miss.; father-in-law, Henry Henderson of Corpus Christy, Texas; sister-in-law, Lynn Henderson of Monroe, La.; and brother-in-law, William Henderson (Denise) of Dardanelle; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Roger Dale King will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20 at the West Helena Baptist Church where he and Debra have been members for the past two years. Rev. Dusty Rhodes will officiate. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19 at Roller-Citizens. Pallbearers are Jimmy Maples, Charles Adams, Doug Ince, Wade Wheeler, Steve Ginn, Herschel Mooneyham, Joey Clairday and Mike Green. Honorary Pallbearers are Dr. Patrick Bell, Glenn Dark, Chris McKinney, Tommy McAlexander, Brad Moneymaker, Bubba Mayville and Earl Vaughn. Roller-Citizens Funeral Home, Helena-West Helena, will direct services.
