Benjamin Stewart, 56, of Honolulu, Hawaii and formerly of Marvell, died Nov. 25, 2012 in Honolulu. Benny was born Oct. 18, 1956 in Holly Grove, the fourth of six children born to the union of Troy L. Stewart and Lorece (Ryan) Stewart.
In 1963, the family moved to Marvell, where Benny graduated from Marvell High School in the class of 1974. In 1977, Benny along with his friend, Rudy, enlisted in the Marine Corps. After serving in boot camp at the Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in California, he was stationed at the Marine Corps Base at Kaneohe Bay, Honolulu, Hawaii.
In Hawaii, he met and married Pearl K. Ah Mook Sang May 17, 1980. To this union three children were born.
Preceding him in death is a sister, Camelia Ann (Stewart) Franks and a brother, Alvin Stewart. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Pearl K. (Ah Mook Sang) Stewart of Honolulu; two sons, Benjamin Leroy Kaholuoamalamalama “Hoku” Stewart and Troy Lindberth Kauioikaika “Ikaika” Stewart; a daughter, Jomel Kawaiola Ah Mook Sang Stewart; two granddaughters, Kyanna Lee Kalina Alves and Kira Kuukei Susawahee Stewart of Honolulu; his parents, Troy L. and Lorece (Ryan) Stewart of Marvell; his mother-in-law, Joyce Sang of Honolulu; four sisters, Mary E. Stewart of Milwaukee, Wis.), Valisha (Stewart) Ewing of Houston, Texas, Troyniticia Stewart of Helena-West Helena and Jean (Stewart) Wilborn of Chicago; three brothers, Vernon Stewart of Little Rock, Lleweyn Stewart and Edward Bennet of Chicago; six brothers-in-law, a sister-in-law, an aunt, two uncles; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 at Fountain Head M.B. Church. Elder Robert Kelly will deliver the eulogy.
