Communication is critical to creating a successful learning environment. One goal of the Marvell-Elaine School District is to create a close and trusting relationship with its stakeholders. After assessing the demographics of the community and the attendance of various constituents at district-hosted meetings, the district felt that senior citizens were underrepresented. Therefore, Friday, Nov. 30 was declared “Senior Citizen Day” in the Marvell-Elaine School District. During this important event, a number of activities were accomplished. Some of those activities included: a district update on goals, deficiencies, student enrollment, student attendance, test data, and personnel; a tour of the school campuses; a luncheon; and the completion of a needs assessment, which included suggestions for school improvement. The district will continue to work actively to promote and provide regular, systematic opportunities for collaboration and shared leadership among its stakeholders.
